A festival of fire. An odia festival celebrated in village. Yah like all festive days, this is also a regional holiday. So the "Masti time" for all the kids, boys, and girls. This day no school and college. Just get ready for the "fire play" of the evening.
On the very morning people complete their daily work and just become engaged gathering the "bunch of straws"(କୁଟା ଗଦା/ ଛଣ in odia term). In usual near the "Village temple" there are wide-spread cultivation fields. And this time no ongoing cultivation is there. So normally all those wide-spread fields left blank.

So in the evening at little far from the "village temple", people gather their "straw bunches(କୁଟା ଗଦା )" ..Every villager brings one or two "brinjals" with them. Then the villager set the "straw bunch" on fire. The bunches start burning. Then the fire grows. People just gathered around the fire in a circle and put the "brinjals" into the fire which they have brought. After some time the fire stops. At that time people search their burnt brinjals inside the ashes of the bunch using bamboos-stick.
And the village children of the village use to make their small bunches and set them into the fire in the bare cultivated fields and used to have fun with fire.some of them make fire balls using kerosin oil and used to through them on the fields.
*people over here believes that, the burnt brinjalis very good for health. And the fire log(nian jhasa in odia) cures your skin disease.
